FT World Championships in Hungary 2010

Just an update on the final scores from the FT Worlds.

From a field of some 155 participants Spain's Jose Redondo took top honours at this years event with an impressive 141 ex 150 over the three days shooting.
England's Andy Calpin and Craig McDonald came 2nd & 3rd (on count-back) respectively with 137 each. Craig also took top Junior which makes his score amongst the 'Adults' all the more impressive!

Four Bisley shooters attended with last years champion James Woodhead coming in with 126 in 19th place overall.
Don Old on 110 in 63rd, Lyndeen Calvert on 103 in 84th and Mick Woodhead on 92 in 106th place.
A special mention for Lyndeen who also came 4th overall in the ladies section, not bad for someone who doesn't shoot competitively from one month to the next!

Congratulations go to the England team for retaining the team event with a combined score of 544 beating South Africa into second spot on 522 and Russia shooting well to come third on 506.

So well done to all who took part.

March 20th, 2010 saw a new event, BFTO/BRSC Junior Day.

Idea being that the juniors from each club would take on the others at their disciplines.

Not brilliant weather as per normal of late, and turnout wasn’t as good as expected.
22 juniors in total ranging from 8-16.

BFTO was represented by :-
Max Caswell,
Noah Harwood,
Ben Hammond,
Ollie Hammond
Leon Hargreaves
Daniel Attfield
James Attfield

The day consisted of 4 disciplines :-
25mtr Ring Target
.22 50mtr Stalkers Test
Hunter Field Target
10mtr Running Target

There was also a great fun range set up on the pistol/vintage range

Considering the low turnout from BFTO, the results were and impressive pleasing to say the least.

James Attfield was 2nd on the ring target with Leon Hargreaves picking up 3rd place.
Noah Harwood also picked up 3rd place in the ring target in a different set.
James Attfield came 3rd in the Stalking target.
Leon Hargreaves came 1st on the running target
Daniel Attfield came 2nd on HFT
Leon Hargreaves came 3rd on HFT
James Attfield also came 3rd in a different set on HFT using his vintage rifle.

Also these guys managed to pick up cash prizes as well as their trophies which was a great surprise to them.

They all represented the our club well and certainly didn’t let us down. They were all very helpful and supportive to the younger members of the other club and helped them through their day.

We all agreed it was a great day with a lot of fun had by all. There is already talk of repeating this day possibly in the summer, and if this day was anything to go by, it’ll be a great success.
