The BFTO run a series of internal club FT and HFT shoots. These competitions are the ideal introduction into FT shooting.

New shooters have the opportunity to shoot around with experienced competitors and learn the ropes.

The courses are biased to the newcomer with 'accessible' targets and a scoring system that ensures that everyone scores....

On the right you can see images of the type of targets we use.

They are designed so that any shot that does not hit the central (yellow) hit area, will not make the target fall.

If the central area is hit, then the target falls back. The target is then pulled upright with a string that leads back to the firing line, and is ready for the next shot.

We also run a very popular Vintage rifle Bell Target competition as well as a 25yd benchrest comp, and a 10yd standing comp. Something for everyone!!.

If you would like more info on club comps speak to any committee member or contact compsec@bfto.org.uk

If you decide to shoot the Winter Leagues or any BFTA Open shoots you will need to get a BFTA shooters card. The club will organise and pay for this but you need to tell the competition secretary, Mick Woodhead, that you want one. Once you have shot an official BFTA shoot your score will be submitted for grading and you will then appear on the BFTA Grading list. Use the link to the right to view the grading list.
