| Vintage Rifle
shooting at the BFTO took off in 2005,
when an already established group headed
up by Ted Housego, started impromptu
competitions. We defined ‘Vintage Rifles’,
as being of pre-1945 production, and most
now shoot the trusty BSA underleaver. The
pace quickly gathered and in 2006 we
started our first organised competitions.
We shoot at traditionally styled
‘boiler plate’, steel targets at 6 &
8 yards, the centre of which is a ½ inch
hole. Held over the last 3 years the
competition has gone from strength to
strength with the number of shooters
rising from around 10 to over 30. Shot
on a monthly basis with the best 6
scores to count, the competition
consists of 3 rounds of 5 shots at each
range (6&8 yds), with a maximum of
25 available. A top score (5) per shot
is denoted by the audible ‘ding’ of our
hand crafted targets kindly made by our
own Michael Turner.
